AutoLocks

Hall Autolocks take halyard-lock performance to the next level. Gone are the days of over-hoisting or "missing" the lock - the Hall AutoLock engages automatically every time. Here's how it works: the lock engages when the halyard is hoisted against an up-stop (even under tension) and then eased. To unlock, the halyard is again hoisted against the up-stop and eased. That's it.

With no trip line, Hall Autolocks eliminate the clutter, the mast-exit holes, and the tangle of lines required by old-style halyard locks.

Advantages

Aerodynamic
Most AutoLock models can be mounted inside the mast or boom.

Clean and Compact
There are no trip lines to tangle on deck or in the mast. In addition, all parts are self-contained and easily removable for routine maintenance.

Reliable
There's no second-guessing with the Hall AutoLock. Pull up on the halyard and the lock is engaged. Pull up again and it's released. Hoisting and lowering sails is quick and easy, even during the excitement of a mark rounding or sail change.

Components

Halyard Bullet
Headstay halyard locks are supplied with a heat-treated stainless steel halyard "bullet" that engages with the lock body. Splice to your existing halyard, or ask us to supply a high-tech, lightweight replacement halyard.

AutoLock Brackets
Headsail locks are attached to the mast or headstay using a bracket machined from hard-coat anodized aluminum.

Carbon-Fiber Body
The AutoLock's carbon-fiber body is strong, light, and stylish. Even the internal locks have the carbon-fiber body.

Styles

External AutoLock
For: Genoa or jib halyard Articulates from a bracket attached to the headstay. Lock can be unpinned and removed for servicing.

Double AutoLock
For: Genoa or Jib halyard
Two locks in one unit. Articulates from a bracket attached to the headstay. If you change headsails during a race, you need this lock.

Internal AutoLock
For: Spinnaker halyards or in-boom reef lines
Installed below the halyard sheave inside the mast. Easy retrofit as the lock can be mounted anywhere inside the mast. Also great inside a boom to handle reef lines. Clever mounting system allows easy removal for servicing.

Hanging AutoLock
For: Any headsail halyard or full hoist mainsail
External lock hangs from a strop on the headstay or mast for a headsail, or hang from the crane to use as mainsail lock.

Block Lock
For: Any headsail halyard or external reef lines
This lock has an integral load-bearing halyard sheave. Ideal replacement for external spinnaker blocks at the masthead or if there's no sheave inside the mast. Also attaches to inner wall of Hall VBoom to handle reefing lines.

Inner Forestay AutoLock
For: Inner forestay or headsail with torsion cable
Makes it easy to remove the inner forestay or small furling headsail while racing and put it back in for a delivery. All from deck level. Lock mounts inside the mast; internal non-load-bearing sheave for hoist line. When mounted below a load-bearing halyard sheave in the mast, it can be used to lock a stay for a soft-hanked headsail.

Mainsail Track AutoLock
For: Mainsail halyard
The headboard car assembly contains integral "flippers" that engage with the track; otherwise the system functions in the same hoist/ease manner as the jib locks. The system can be adapted to a number of mainsail tracks by simply replacing portions of the track with the locking track. Recommended for racing programs looking for a lightweight system.

Internal Mainsail AutoLock
For: Mainsail halyard
Mounted inside the mast; bracket with "flippers" is located at a fixed position in the mast and engages with headboard car assembly. Compatible with any track or headboard car. Locks can be added at each reefing point; reef locks available with trip lines if preferred. Ideal for cruising systems.

Gaff AutoLock
For: Squaretop mainsail with "gaff" batten
The headboard car assembly has an internal halyard sheave for hoisting and locking the squaretop batten. Available in combination with either mainsail locking system, above.
