Hall Seamless Carbon Rigging is solid, not bundled, making it the smallest diameter composite rod for equal stretch on the market. Hall SCR has smaller end fittings than other composite rigging systems, too, making it more aerodynamic overall. Made from Titanium, Hall SCR end fittings are far smaller and lighter than anything in the composite rigging sphere.
Hall SCR is also proven on the racecourse. Ben Hall, sailing his Evelyn 32 Bluto with a full set of SCR rigging, was named Boat of the Week at Key West Race Week in 2010. "The best part was being competitive through a wider range of conditions," says Ben of sailing with SCR. "We could see that the mast stood up well while sailing upwind in waves. With the carbon rigging the mast just doesn't move around," says Ben.
"It also helps that the mast and rigging are much lighter. The mast doesn't pump like it used to, even without the checkstays." (Bluto was originally equipped with an aluminum mast with wire shrouds and checkstays. With the switch to carbon, the checkstays were eliminated.) We noticed we were pitching less and we were pretty quick upwind. Bottom line is, with SCR rigging the boat is livelier and even more fun to sail.
